Atlantis To Start Season 5

SCI FI Channel's original series Stargate Atlantis will begin production later this month on its fifth season, the channel announced. The 20-episode season will include the series' benchmark 100th episode.

Fan favorite Paul McGillion will return for five episodes to reprise his role as Dr. Carson Beckett. Amanda Tapping (Col. Samantha Carter) will appear as a special guest star in several episodes, and Stargate SG-1 star Michael Shanks (Dr. Daniel Jackson) will appear as a special guest in episodes as well.

Robert Picardo, who plays International Oversight Committee rep Richard Woolsey, joins the Atlantis cast this season as Woolsey assumes command of the Atlantis expedition. The team, led by Lt. Col. Sheppard (Joe Flanigan), Dr. Rodney McKay (David Hewlett), Teyla (Rachel Luttrell), Ronon (Jason Momoa) and Dr. Jennifer Keller (Jewel Staite), must adjust to his unique leadership style.

In the fifth season, the status quo is shaken following the events of season four, which is currently airing on SCI FI Fridays at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Cherished friends are lost, others are found. New alliances are forged while new races are introduced.

Produced and distributed by MGM Television, Stargate Atlantis is filmed in Vancouver, Canada. The series is executive-produced by Brad Wright, Robert Cooper, Joseph Mallozzi, Paul Mullie, Carl Binder and Martin Gero. Mallozzi and Mullie share the reins as show runners.






Well with Woosley coming on board and that is the best they can do.I see the end of this show.I will give it 1 more year from Season 5.I can't understand that this is the best they (Writers and management can do.)I can see the Huge Void of Imagination in there,And so i say they need to clean house of those Imagination lacking people.Bring Colonel Mayborn back any thing at least with him it will be a sneaky,under handed,and down right Dirty.But they will succeed. Woosley is nothing but a wimp always wants to handle things true back seat driving,Or as they say here  Arm chair  Quarterback.Meaning after the fact then is the time he will have all the so call Bright idea's.GTO

I think it's a baaaaaaaaad idea.  Woolsey wants to do the right thing but he almost always does what is politically expedient.  Look what happens when the politics gets involved: they pulled Weir out of Atlantis for questioning during the crisis when the wraith were headed to Earth & Atlantis had no defences.  Yup, pull your commanding officer out just as you go into war.  That always works!!!

lol..then we need a twist to spice things up...this will happen..by some weird replicator ,wraith incident woolsey will be turned to a hologram..and coincidentally enough...will have his memory erased and programmed with all of the atlantian medical knowledge lol :)

well here is the skinny on Woosley:

Picardo will reprise his role of Richard Woolsey, the International Oversight Committee member who made life miserable for both the SG-1 and Atlantis teams in the past. Following a season in which major changes [positive and negative] occurred on Atlantis, the new season promises to be intriguing as a number of familiar faces pop up unexpectedly.

Besides Tapping’s Colonel Samantha Carter, Stargate Atlantis will feature guest-starring appearances by Michael Shanks’ Dr. Daniel Jackson, and Paul McGillion’s Dr. Carson Beckett. Beckett returns for five episodes, while the number of episodes featuring Carter and Jackson appear to be not yet determined.

Apparently one intriguing arc will involve how the Atlantis team – Lt. Col. John Sheppard [Joe Flanigan], Dr. Rodney McKay [David Hewlitt], Teyla [Rachel Luttrell], Ronon [Jason Momoa] and Dr. Jennifer Keller [Jewel Staite] – react to Woolsey’s unique management style.

The popular SCI FI series will continue to be executive produced by Brad Wright, Robert Cooper, Joseph Mallozzie, Paul Mullie, Carl Binder and Martin Gero – all writers for the series – with Mallozzie and Mullie sharing the reins as showrunners.
