"It's true. We found out about an hour ago that 'Moonlight' has been officially canceled."

Those words, sent out in a statement by "Moonlight" producers Gabrielle Stanton and Harry Werksman, have struck a blow to an avid and loyal fan base for the show that won over skeptics and found its own footing in vampire lore.

"We are truly saddened by the news and are sorry that we won't get the chance to live with our wonderful characters and follow them on their adventures for a second season," the statement continued. "We really want to thank all our loyal fans for their undying love and support of the show. We never would have made it this far without them. In vampire solidarity ... rah, rah!"

It seems execs at CBS were not happy with a 13 percent drop in viewers after "Ghost Whisperer" aired. While "Moonlight" consistently won the hour in ratings over all the shows that air on other networks at 9 p.m. on Fridays, it just couldn't maintain the numbers that lead-in show "Ghost Whisperer" boasts.

Fans, many of whom gave their own blood in a nationwide Red Cross blood-drive to save lives -- and "Moonlight" -- are not happy with the decision, with many of them announcing that they will no longer watch any shows that air on CBS.

The cancellation makes the finale airing on Friday especially bittersweet, because not only is it now the series finale, but it promises to up the stakes in terms of the mythology of the series, and end with a cliffhanger.

"Sonata," the final episode of "Moonlight," barring any unlikely last moment rescue of the show by some other network or a reversal of CBS's decision, airs Friday at 9 p.m. ET.

Well Neo would have allot to say about this show. GTO

Neo, I'm sure all of us aren't shocked by your language (and if they are, then I'm wondering what rock they've been living under).  Besides, we know you really like the show & keep having ones you like shot out before they manage to really get going.

That's the better way to do it, tbh.  I try not to at work & it always makes me laugh when I let one slip out because my coworkers all look shocked.  Mind you they do the same thing when I make some kind of sexual innuendo.

In case you couldn't tell from that, my coworkers have no idea who I really am!! rolling
