'Moonlight' Suffers Final Fatal Stake Wound

Call the coroner ... "Moonlight" appears to be officially dead.

The Hollywood Reporter says that last-ditch efforts to bring the CBS show back from the grave were unsuccessful, and that sadly fans have seen the last of Alex O'Loughlin as their favorite vampire detective.

Although there was some interest from other parties, which some have rumored to be everyone from The CW to DirecTV, it wasn't enough to get anyone to sign on the dotted line to take on the expense of continuing the show through a second season.

"The sets have been dismantled. The stage is being taken over by CBS' upcoming drama 'The Mentalist.' The billowy shirts are packed up. It's done," the story from the trade magazine's blog said.

Despite the failure, those close to the show said there was significant interest in the show, but no one could justify the expense based on expected return. Although viewership numbers were strong for even CBS, there was no guarantee that audiences would follow the show to another outlet.

Some fans were saying as late as Saturday that DirecTV -- which last spring struck a deal with NBC to help produce "Friday Night Lights" -- was very interested in the show, and one fan even posted a poll on the message board they said was being monitored by DirecTV officials. The poll, which can be found at Moonlight Line, had more than 2,000 votes as of early Tuesday morning, with 93 percent saying they were already DirecTV subscribers, or would become a DirecTV subscriber if it picked up "Moonlight." Just 5 percent said they weren't interested in switching.

Seriously tho, if you got rid of that troupe, there would be hordes of other bean counters in place before you could blink.

It doesn't make sense at times i tell you.Good shows,with allot of Potential.Get trow out for crap,or things cheaply done,Like the reality shows that they have so much of it now.So if you are watching that crap,it could be that you may be contributing to this.The only one that i watch is Deadly catch,about the King crab fisherman.And to me it seems like every one has a show,trying to out do each other in lowness and shocking crap.I watch allot of Reruns lately and Baby Einstein Next week it B-5's Turn to come up on the plate.Trying to infected some of these younger one's on real Sci-Fi.

Im hooked on House/Numbers etc at the moment but I was hooked on Moonlight as well, it seems strange to me that this "True Blood" has been given the go ahead even though the Leaked Pilot ep was complete crap?

I could turn out good but I doubt it? its all about the fact that China or Japan create a synthetic form of blood so vampires admit to the world they exist and our no longer a threat to humans as they can live on this fake blood which gets bottled and called "True Blood", the main girl is a redneck psychic who can hear everyones thoughts but not vampires and she kinda falls for a vamp that has woken up early from his slumber.

it sounds like a good idea but it is a full on nascar loving redneck trailor trash setting with really annoying accents and everyone is dumb as frak
