Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment is not paying its employees -- and reportedly hasn't for a month -- but the company behind the massive multi-player game "Stargate Worlds" says the game is still being developed, and that its financial issues are no different than any other startup.

Ars Technica reports that employees of the company, started up specifically to develop this game attached to MGM's Stargate franchise, haven't been paid in more than a month. The company first partnered with MGM in 2005 to help develop an MMO role-playing game based on its popular series "Stargate SG-1" and "Stargate: Atlantis," which aired on both Showtime and SciFi Channel.

The game has been in development ever since, a process that could take years and millions of dollars. Cheyenne Mountain, however, has been promoting its Stargate game as of late, even handing out T-shirts and other marketing items with the "Stargate Worlds" logo on it at places like Comic-Con in San Diego last summer.

"We continue to move forward on the 'Stargate Worlds' project," the company said in a statement. "We recently completed a successful phase of closed beta testing and we will start a second phase early in 2009."

Ars Technica says it didn't believe current cash-flow issues would provide a death blow to "Stargate Worlds," especially with the high-profile name of the property it's trying to develop. At the same time, other games like "Tabula Rasa" have collapsed (that game is closing in February), and a void for games like it could help fill the void.

Also today, Cryptic Studios, the developer of "Star Trek Online" announced it had been purchased by Atari, which should help keep an influx of cash available to help the game's expected fall launch.

Well they better produce something. And please don't tell me there is no $$$$$$

Hell anything stargate cost ton's of money.  GTO
