No date has been set as of yet on when "Battlestar Galactica: The Plan" will air on Syfy, but at least fans now know when they can actually put a copy of what could be the final outing of the Galactica crew on their DVD shelf.

Universal Studios Home Entertainment, a division of Syfy's parent NBC Universal, will release "The Plan" on DVD, Blu-ray and digital download on Oct. 27. The telemovie, written by "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Firefly" alum Jane Espenson and directed by series star Edward James Olmos, will feature 90 minutes of material, part of which will be cut from the Syfy broadcast and available only on the DVD.

Also, the Blu-ray version of the film will include a Battlestar Galactica Trivia Game among other exclusive features.

"The Plan" explores some of the backstory of the reimagined "Battlestar Galactica" universe, looking at the events that provide the backbone of the entire BSG mythology through the eyes of the Cylons, the robots created by humans from the Twelve Colonies, who became sentient and rebelled.

The telemovie stars Olmos as William Adama, Dean Stockwell as Brother Cavil, Tricia Helfer as Number Six, Grace Park as Boomer and Callum Keith Rennie as the Cylon Leoben.

Prices for "The Plan" begin at $27 for the DVD and $40 for the Blu-ray when it's released in October.

And airdate for the telemovie on Syfy has not been announced, but unless the situation regarding who has the rights to any "movie" version of the show has changed, it's likely Syfy will air "The Plan" ahead of its DVD release.

Among the other Blu-ray special features is bookmarking favorite scenes, some deleted sequences that didn't make even the extended DVD cut, interviews with the actors and crew, and other behind-the-scenes vignettes.
