GE, Vivendi Come To Terms, Preparing NBCU For Sale

Now it's simply a matter of time.

General Electric, the owner of NBC and Syfy parent NBC Universal, has come to terms with former SciFi Channel owner Vivendi to buy out its 20 percent stake in the conglomerate for $5.8 billion.

The move now clears the way for GE to sell controlling interest in NBCU for $30 billion to Comcast in a deal that will let the cabler get better control of the content that runs through its system and to millions of households, while allowing GE to move back into focusing more on its industrial roots.

There are still potholes along the way that could derail the GE/Comcast deal, but many analysts tell The New York Times that a final deal is almost certain to happen.

A sale to Comcast likely won't mean any immediate changes to Syfy. The cable channel has been enjoying some of its biggest audiences ever with the help of shows like new shows "Warehouse 13" and "Stargate: Universe." But there could be some considerable changes at NBC itself, where shows like "Heroes" have struggled as of late.





Well what i can say about Comcast is that they are very territorial,and impose allot on the customers and don't give much back in return. They wanted to trotter down internet usage also. GTO

Ive gone past caring about these networks as all the do is screw everything up anyway........ replace one set of mindless wankers with another set of mindless wankers just seems to be the way they role

It all comes down to what the bean counters decide, unfortunately.  This just means that there will be less interesting, intelligent stuff being made...or I should say, being shown.
