The end is nigh and the series finale of “Lost” is now gearing up to become a television event.

ABC has confirmed that the final episode of the castaway drama has been extended by 30 minutes, clocking the episode at two and a half hours. The outing also will be part of a special “Lost” night and will follow a retrospective documentary charting the “Lost” phenomenon.

The aptly titled episode “The End” will then be followed by a post-finale Jimmy Kimmel-hosted special entitled “Aloha to Lost” that will contain a look at all six seasons of the series. Kimmel hosts ABC's late-night show, "Jimmy Kimmel Live."

Also, as part of a special tease for fans, ABC will air the original two-hour long pilot episode that first launched the series on the night before the finale.

Although the series doesn’t draw in the same kind of audience that it did back in 2004, "Lost" is still a respectable name for the alphabet network with an average of 12 million viewers every week. ABC is looking to capitalize on the final night of the series commercials selling for $900,000 for 30 seconds throughout the finale. According to Hollywood Insider, ads were priced at approximately $213,000 last year.

"Lost" airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on ABC, and will conclude on May 23.

Well Let's see how they will put this one out.
