NBC's "Chuck" and ABC's "V" will get renewed for next season.

Both Warner Bros. shows were on the bubble for a pickup due to borderline ratings, but sources say the shows will be back next season on their respective networks.

Though modestly rated, "Chuck" has been NBC's steadiest show on Monday nights after "Heroes" sank in the Nielsens. While ABC's "V" was a steady performer on Tuesdays after "Lost" since it returned from hiatus and its most recent episode climbed slightly in the numbers. Both shows are expected to receive 13-episode orders.

NBC's "Heroes" and ABC's other sci-fi freshman drama "FlashForward" continue to be in question, however, with the former possibly receiving a short-season order and the latter very unlikely to return.

V' – Fruition
Both Anna and Erica prove that they are willing to do whatever it takes to get what they want

If you weren’t clear about how manipulative and ruthless Anna (Morena Baccarin) is, you should know it now. What is more intriguing is seeing Erica (Elizabeth Mitchell) start to develop her own conniving skills as she decides to try and use Lisa for her own purposes.

At the end of the last episode, we saw Anna slam her daughter Lisa (Laura Vandervoort) across the face and order another V to break her legs without even a flinch. Her plans were constantly in motion. She used Lisa’s injuries to gain media attention against the Fifth Column and sympathy as a mother. She ignored Chad (Scott Wolf), which resulted in him making a passionate plea to keep the Vs there.

If there was a plan to be made, Anna already thought of it.

Erica had to continue playing double agent to the FBI and her own Fifth Column unit. Using the identities that Lisa gave of her attackers, she knew that Kyle (Charles Mesure) was set up but not why. They all made it their mission to find missing scientist Lawrence Parker, played by sci-fi vetaran Paul McGillion. When Kyle found his apartment on his own, he secretly confiscated his hard drive.

It turned out that Erica wasn’t the only one playing both sides. Kyle found out why the Vs were targeting Parker and struck a deal. We are not surprised that he tried dealing with a V, but we were probably surprised that it was with Marcus (Christopher Shyer).

When Erica found Parker, she found out that he and other scientists accidentally created algae that harmed amphibians and possibly reptiles. Knowing that she stumbled upon a possible weapon, Erica pocketed a small container of it before the FBI broke in and arrested Parker.

In the lineup, it was up to Lisa to identify Parker. However, Joshua (Mark Hildreth) talked to Erica before that Lisa was a potential for going against Anna because of her feelings for Tyler (Logan Huffman). Erica gave her every reason to make the right choice and defy Anna, but in the end Lisa gave into her fear of her mother who ordered her own body to be broken.

By the end of the episode, the lines were clearly drawn between Anna and Erica. Both will do whatever they can to protect their children, and both are willing to cross some moral boundaries.

Erica’s decision to use Tyler and his relationship with Lisa to get to Anna blurs the line between what is right and wrong.

With only one more episode left and still some uncertainties about a renewal for a second season will they end the entire conflict next week or will it end in a cliffhanger?
What Worked

The conflict between Anna and Erica is inevitable. But having them both make morally questionable decisions in parallel succession gives a lot more depth to Erica’s character.

Anna is the kind of villain that has no redeeming quality, which makes her fun to hate. There is not one person or V she will not double-cross, and there is not one angle that she misses.

We are not going to have a character flip where at some point and time she will give in a little bit, and we’ll eventually start cheering for her like other villains discussed in the latest TV Watchtower column. We will have to have some satisfaction in watching Lisa make the changes to become more human-like.

In the preview for the season finale, it looks like we’ll be seeing the birth of Ryan (Morris Chestnut) and Val’s (Lourdes Benedicto) V and human hybrid baby. Does anybody remember how well it went in the original series?
What Didn’t Work

Without knowing if the show is getting a continuation at the time it aired, it feels like the show is making a final Hail Mary pass. Did anyone else get the hint of Anna wanting the human population to beg them to stay as a parallel plea for the fans to beg to keep the show on the air?

The hope was that it would get picked up for a second season.
Giving Credit Where Credit Is Due

“V” stars Elizabeth Mitchell, Joel Gretsch, Morris Chestnut, Morena Baccarin, Scott Wolf, Logan Huffman, Mark Hildreth, Christopher Shyer, Lourdes Benedicto, Charles Mesure, and Laura Vandervoort. “Fruition” was directed by Bryan Spicer and written by John Wirth and Natalie Chaidez

V' Break Will Help Show Improve, Network Says
Surprise renewal won't return until midseason

ABC has brought back "V" for a second season, but fans won't find it on the network's fall schedule.

Our favorite visiting lizards instead have been pushed to 2011, creating a seven-month wait between May 18's season finale and the second season premiere. While that might not be the best thing to do from an audience standpoint for a freshman drama, it's something that could help the show creatively, network executives said.

"Because it's a big, sci-fi event show, they could use the extra time to ramp up and get the show as good as it could possibly be," Jeff Bader, ABC's executive vice president for planning, scheduling and distribution, told Zap2it. "It's also a show we'd like to run as uninterrupted as possible, like we've done with 'Lost.' If it can run uninterrupted, it will play much better."

There might be some truth to that. "V" premiered Nov. 3 to the best network genre ratings of the season with an 8.5 rating/13 share. As expected, its second outing a week later was lower -- falling as much as 22 percent, but held steady for the most part through the end of November, ending with a 6.7/10 average. That was better than any other ABC show in that timeslot except for "Dancing With the Stars," and held its own against some of the best numbers offered by "NCIS" on CBS.

However, a 126-day hiatus -- and a move to 10 p.m. -- wreaked havoc on "V," causing a 20 percent audience drop from its November finale, and finishing with an average 43 percent lower than it was in November.

"V" also finished behind "The Forgotten," which averaged a 4.4/8 in the timeslot compared to the 3.8/6 from "V," prompting many to speculate that the saga of these alien visitors could be shortened to a single season.

Instead, ABC picked up the show, and now fans will have to hope that a break that could last more than 200 days will be good for "V," and not lead to a sophomore demise.

Personnaly i do belief that is tooooo Much of a wait.

So Here i go again in giving my 2 Cents in: What did you think of the finale? OMG. Anna experienced human emotion and Marcus reviving a fifth Column member??? Earth is screwed.

I wonder though if Anna was upset the eggs died or the fact that her plan was ruined? Seeing Joshua die made me want to  Sad.
I was shocked that Marcus was the one that brought him back
And Hobbes having worked for him for years...i don't think he was happy.

I suspected Val would die, but not that Anna killed her.
And they didn't show the baby...except the tail
I can't believe she hooked Ryan again.
Let's hope he gets away again once the first grief is over. My spirits jumped  hello  Lisa was all "FEEL THE EMOTION, BEEETCH" but in a silent, smiling way.  Primal Shadow
Hobbs is pretty torn between what he knows is right and money, the thing he loves most  Cent smile

The sky just turned into some kinda LSD induced dream, and 50 bazillion more ships of iguanas showed up.
Val died, sorta saw it coming, but speaking strategically, not a huge loss. She was just a psychologist   Q Shadow . The baby and her fiance on the other hand, that's a loss.

Is Marcus part of the 5th column? I belief the whole point of Marcus' character is to keep us guessing. But I don't believe he is 5th Column. I do believe however that he might have an agenda of his own especially now that Anna is "feeling" and putting their plan in danger.  So What do you think Add A few lines??????    GTO

‘V’ – Red Sky
Both sides of the conflict make their move in the season finale

This review may contain spoilers.

In a last minute move, ABC decided to renew “V” for a second season. This meant that the last episode became a full-fledged season finale instead of an incomplete ending to the whole show.

And, in "Red Sky," there were so many things to pay attention to that some things may have slipped your attention.
Anna (Morena Baccarin) and Lisa (Laura Vandervoort) invited Erica (Elizabeth Mitchell) and Tyler (Logan Huffman) on board the V ship. Erica decided that this was her opportunity to take action while on board. Kyle (Charles Mesure) promised to ambush Marcus (Christopher Shyer) to keep him busy. Joshua (Mark Hildreth) was supposed to be her contact on the ship. Although Ryan (Morris Chestnut) offered to escort her up there, he got delayed because Valerie (Lourdes Benedicto) was abducted and taken to the ship by a soldier while she was in labor. From there, some plans went well and some were thwarted for each side.

Joshua contacted Lisa and told her it was her time to choose sides. When he was captured due to a betrayal by Chad (Scott Wolf), Lisa had to help Erica. When Lisa found Joshua, she freed him so that the plan to kill the soldier eggs could take place. Joshua knew he had to sacrifice himself for the greater good, but in a nice gesture he honored Lisa as his queen, which seemed to touch her.

Chad thought he was doing the right thing by tattling to Anna about the Fifth Column message he had, but Joshua told him of Anna’s treachery and usage of him. Needing proof, he went to the red corridor and saw the torturing of humans, which also confirmed Joshua’s claim that they implanted his aneurism before curing him.

Erica tried to save Joshua, but he convinced her that in order to keep her Fifth Column identity safe she had to shoot him. While she knew she lost Joshua in the violence, she didn’t realize that the team also lost Ryan. Val delivered the V and human hybrid baby onboard the ship. We knew that Anna killed her, but Anna managed to calm Ryan down and convince him that she tried to save her. Using a direct line of her bliss, she purged Ryan of his human emotions and brought him back in connection with her. As a final gesture of his being back in the fold, he got to hold his new child.

We knew that Kyle was a double agent working with Marcus, but even he didn’t know that Marcus and the V’s financed all of his mercenary work all along. Using a picture of someone he cared about, Marcus threatened Kyle to continue helping the V’s by infiltrating the Fifth Column as well as supplying the second half of the formula.

When Anna found all but twelve of her soldier eggs dead, she experienced a rush of the human emotions of pain, loss, and anger all at once. Letting out a primal scream, she cried while Marcus looked on in confusion and Lisa smirked at the justice of it all. Human emotions for Anna were a weakness since she embraced her feelings of vengeance and gave the order that made the sky go red and her fleet of ships that were masked in space surround the entire planet ready to take action at her command.

Possibly the best action was Father Jack (Joel Gretsch) finally standing up and saying that everyone had to choose a side. Although most of the congregation left and he was told that he would not be welcome to preach like that again, he finally knew what his purpose was in the entire fight. A few people were left standing in support against the V’s including Chad. ( I Kosh Belief that the other older Priest maybe a Lizard also, Just wait )

The lines were drawn and all of the players have dug in even further. It was an episode full of action and manipulation. If all of the episodes had been this active, the show may have gotten its renewal earlier. As it is, at least they know that they have a chance to fully complete their story, and when the show returns we will find out the consequences to everyone’s choices.

What Worked

Finally, Anna didn’t get her way. She is a masterful puppeteer and manipulator, but it was great to see her break down. Morena Baccarin played the part of the villain with panache the entire season. Previously, it has been said in these reviews that she was too much the villain with no flaws. Giving her flaws in such a dramatic manner and watching her both implode and explode finally gives us something for which to cheer.

It has been the subtle decisions and surprises that made the show better this season. Seeing the sky turn red and knowing that Anna wasn’t playing nice anymore certainly raised the bar in terms of what could happen in the future. But probably the best surprise was Marcus healing Joshua. The intrigue of why is tantalizing, but we will have to hold on until the fall.

What Didn’t Work

We didn’t get to see what the hybrid baby looked like? With all of the beautiful special effects on the show, the only thing they gave us was a reptilian tale coming out of the swaddling clothes and grasping Ryan’s finger. Maybe they thought that whatever we could imagine would be better, but it felt like we got ripped off a little.

Hopefully, the people who make decisions about taking breaks in the middle of a season learned a lesson with this show. With such a great jump start, they never should have taken such a huge break. In the end, the show built up its audience, but it would be better just to keep that audience from the beginning to the end of a season. Also, while planning the next season, hopefully the writers are making contingency plans for ending the series with a true conclusion just in case.

( belief that with Ryan maybe going on  the other team perhaps, they will have an other player on there side Joshua,However i do belief with time Ryan will come back. One thing that puzzle me though...What about the reporter that was Anna's Boot  Liker, what will he do now??? I felt like i got riped off also with them not showing how the baby looks like. And Now with the Sky red, this means that the lizards are heating the whole earth up.Because they love the hot weather.)
