We've had this poll before. Way back in May. Has user's preferance changed or not? Lately several uploaders are posting 700Mb episodes. Is that what users prefer now? I cannot myself download 700 Mb episodes because of bandwidth and speed. Also the little increase in quality above that of a 350Mb episode doesn't justify downloading one episode for the price of two. What do you guys/girls prefer? Give us your vote. NB! You are allowed two votes.

i voted 350mb
the reason that alot of new eps ie stargate are being posted in 700mb is due to the fact that that release group themselves are posting it at that size , most of the new eps that are posted here come directly from torrent sites and are simply transferred to one sever or another as quickly as possible, i havent been able to find out why they are starting to do them in 700mb size , but it maybe a case of there settings when they are capping the episode itself , and also release groups have access to very very fast servers and BW and Dl limits would not mean a thing to them. And they release alot of stuff and may not have the time to encode it before they release it
i always perfer 350mb size for a show that usually 42mins long , and if the ep has been encoded to that size from a larger one , but it was capped in HDTV the loss of quality is very small. If its a show that usually runs 22mins long like most comedys then a 175mb version would be fine for me .
Alot of older documentries where capped at 700mb or above because at the time the channels only aired stuff in PDTV , and for a good documentry with some very good ''close up'' shots the 700mb versions on average has alot better quality picture.
I dont mind 700mb eps because i dont have any limits on my ISP , but for the ep takes nearly double the time to download , and for the very little loss in quality the 350mb would always be my first choice.

I know about the stargate saga but some of our uploaders are doing their own encodes/uploads in 700Mb now which i think should be discouraged unless the majority of users prefer that.

I'm with nykonski.
For Comedies or Cartoons that only run for ~25min = 175MB Normal TV Shows ~45min = 350MB Movies or double-episodes, or programs that are over ~60min = 700MB
Regards,
R.

I base my preference on how much I like a show. If I like it then 350mbs for a 40ish minute episode is perfectly acceptable. If the show is middle of the road, then 170mbs id fine. If it is a show that I'll only watch if I have nothing better to do then 90mbs is fine. For movies, 650mb-700mb is ok.
Peace

well im going to break the strike i say 90 mb is more than enough for a ~42min chapter especially when you encode it using h264, as for 350 there is really no need to specify that the filesize is to big and demands to split a season to more than one dvd and it has no real justification as the quality which is added is negligable

I would have to agree with nykonski. 350 encodes coupleid with error/nykonski's servers are pretty much perfect. Just finished downloading 700mb episode from our resident 'super-encoder' Qasim and (no dis-respect to Qasim) to be trueful - I cannot see much difference in the quality from the 350mb.

I like them small. Smaller episodes equals more porn every month. (Don't tell the wife that anybody.)

She doesn't know the huge amount I have hidden away on portable hard drives though. I watch porn to see what a sexually excited woman looks like.

MrD, hon, if she's not sexually excited, then, as a woman, I can only say, you aren't doing enough to make her that way. Foreplay. It saves you a lot of effort in the end. And it's vital for her.

I voted 150mb
I love the RMVB files. They are usually 130mb - 150mb files for a 42 minute show. Small size, plus it looks great. I'm not sure why many people dislike RMVB.

The stigma attached to RealPlayer is my reason - but i do agree, RMVB is an extremely good format.

i watched lost season 1 in RMVB format and it done my head in , it can be good quality but the background is always awful and yes realplayer sucks !
and if it doenst come from scene or encoded by a member to what ever size ,, everything is an encode ..rls come in like 15GB files 350mb is a standard size of the now with HDTV process for a 42min show
