fresh install of xp
1. backup any data you want to keep scan the data for viral infections.
2. insert xp boot disk restart pc.
3. erase all partitions on the disk you plan on installing xp.
4. do not start reformatting instead restart pc xp setup will reboot in 15 sec remove
xp boot disk wait for restart.
5. when pc reboots wait till you get the message that no os has been detected replace xp boot disk shut down pc.
6. switch off your power supply if you're power supply has a shut off switch then remove power cord wait 6-8 min this will drain your mobo of any residual power this should clean the ram plug power cord in switch on power supply if power switch is part of your power supply start pc.
7. run xp setup create the windows partition and any others format with NTFS and begin re-installation
8. once setup is complete and system is fully booted download all service packs and updates
9. install any drivers you need
10. these are the key programs to keep xp safe and running smooth
>AVG A/V free license
>Spybot S&D
>Malwarebytes'Anti-Malware
>Auslogics Registry Cleaner (this tool is great to keep the registry files you need and to remove the unused and empty keys)
>Auslogics Disk Defrag (This tool is much better the the one that comes with xp as it dose 2 things removes all temp files that are hidden in the system and also dose a fast and accurate defrag of the selected drive)

Thats it folks I have done this too my system and it's been running for 1yr2mo without any issues or slowdowns i hope this tutorial can help you keep your xp system clean and fast please post you're comments or questions.
